Marketing at CURVE

*Digital and print marketing for trade shows within high-end lingerie and swimwear*

Not sure about you but I was unaware that trade shows for this industry were so large in the US until a few months ago. I had always admired the beauty that is lingerie but had never thought about the industry as a whole.

“So Kate, what do you do?”

I have become to loathe that question in casual conversations. Explaining what one does as a Marketing Assistant is difficult since you tend to wear a lot of hats, especially if you are in a small office like myself. Explaining marketing for trade shows within lingerie is pretty much impossible unless you have at least 10 mins to spare.

I always knew I wanted to take what I have learned as a communication major and combine it with my fascination of social media and the digital industry. After being almost like a fly on the wall at my last job, which was a full service-advertising agency, I knew it was the right industry for me to pursue. It combines by experience working with the public, productive communication skills, creative writing, and constant drive to learn about new and innovative advertising.

Although I have not been working as a Marketing Assistant for CURVE Expo long, I am already thrilled with what I have learned and eager to learn more about this ever-changing industry. Since my office is so small, I feel I have a lot more responsibility than other internships offer. This can get stressful but it forces me to learn and problem solve on my own which ultimately benefits me in the end because I am learning important skills at a fast rate.

Here is an example of a section of a monthly Newsletter that I produced. I do everything from gathering the photos from the clients, resizing them through Photoshop, coding them with Dreamweaver as well as linking them to their Exhibitor space on the company website. I also create inspiration boards on the company Pinterest account as well as link the CURVE social media accounts to each Newsletter.

Posting content on the company website as well as creating editorial articles is a big part of my job. I take information that brands send me and create articles for both the New York Website and the Las Vegas Website. This provides great exposure for the brands, as buyers are able to learn about new brands coming to CURVE or new collections from well-known brands before the trade shows. After completing the articles, I also push them on our social media accounts.

I also take part in running the company Instagram account. I love using the amazing photos that these brands produce and accompany them with my copywriting skills to advertise both the company and the exhibiting brands.

I am so excited for the upcoming trade show in New York at the end of February. I am constantly speaking with exhibiting brands daily and cant wait to meet so many of them at the show itself and help with so many of the fun surprise events that will happen the day of.

I will most definitely be writing about my experience at the show. I will be sure to include photos/descriptions of some surprise events I am assisting to coordinate at the show. Keep an eye out for another post in March! 🙂
